Lorenc+Yoo Design worked with Hnedak Bobo Group on the wayfinding signage program for a major, 346,000 SF expansion of the Kalispel Tribe’s Northern Quest Resort & Casino.

The lobby level Liquid bar features wide, high ceilings and an open, inviting space thanks to the use of wood, bronze, glass, stone and other natural materials. Outside, the team integrated contemporary materials with traditional Native American themes such as the lantern and earth for the designs for the parking deck signage, building signage, and landmark pieces. Following the aesthetic theme, the finishing touch on the landmark sign is a vertical light rising like a beacon.

Lorenc+Yoo Design’s signage system for Christiana Mall encompasses three main parts: exterior wayfinding, exterior signage, and interior wayfinding pieces. The goal of the project was to unify each element of the system to provide mall-goers with a consistent branding presence from the time they drive into the parking lot.

The exterior wayfinding pieces include pieces that combine the traditional with the contemporary. Seated on a sandstone base, burgundy pillars support large text, bookended on one side by the distinct red logo of the mall. Guidance to the mall’s anchor stores sit beneath on horizontal pieces of steel that instinctively point the way.

Entitled “Rising Hand,” Lorenc+Yoo’s polished aluminum sculpture for Samsung rises 50 feet (15 meters) in the air and features a hand holding a Samsung mobile phone displaying videos, messages and other information on its LED screen. The sculpture’s powerful upward thrust is futuristic and dynamic, symbolizing the limitless possibilities in the future of communication.

Calm, sophisticated, and with an understated Chinese feel, the 4000 square foot space for UPS’s presence at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games features four distinct areas: two dining rooms, a lounge area and a bar. It became a home away from home for the UPS guests, a place to have refuge from the hustle and bustle of the games. Tipping a hat to UPS’s brand message and slogan “What can brown do for you?” the space’s dominant color is brown, however, the design firm accented each area with yellows, gold and greens to communicate modernity and a blending of aesthetics from the east and the west. These secondary colors were all a part of the UPS brand.

Echoing the message of openness and global opportunity delivered by UPS, there is no place where guests feel closed off from the other areas. The design team achieved this by designing “moon gates” that acted as windows throughout the space. Inspired by Asian garden elements in which gates are used to frame a particular plant or vista with a round opening, the moon-gates are lit internally and terminate with a series of Chinese characters that refer to travel and transit.

The merger of Sony and Ericsson, two giants in consumer electronics and cellular telecommunications, required a dramatic custom exhibit design that would catch the attention of visitors at the annual Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association show and educate them on the new company’s product offerings.

Lorenc+Yoo designed the exhibit in the shape of an interlocking “S” and “E” – a key component of the new company’s brand identity.  Predominately white, apple green and yellow accent colors echoed the company’s new identity on conference wall surfaces, custom designed tables and credenzas. Lorenc+Yoo Design used silver aluminum as a neutral on the internally illuminated reception desk, demo tables and accent walls. Green translucent plexiglass set in silver frames allowed the “S” and “E” letters to read with clarity.

Lorenc+Yoo Design was brought on board to design the retail signage system for Battlefield Mall’s renovation.  The custom signage solution included directional signage on the interior and exterior of the building for improved wayfinding, as well as pillars and interior branding signs.

Located between Dallas and Fort Worth, the Gaylord Texan Resort represents Texas’s rich heritage through the integration of iconic elements –- its ranch, Spanish and oil legacies. Lorenc+Yoo’s approach to the signage for the grand resort was to create a cohesive design that would complement the resort’s ranch-styled architecture and reflect its unique character. Reiterating the sun-like symbols in the resort’s logo, Lorenc+Yoo Design incorporated solar motifs in everything from parking lot guide signs to guest room labels. The sun and stars serve as a constant reminder of the natural character of the luxurious resort.

Mayo Clinic Heritage Hall is a 4,000 square foot corporate museum and visitor center that recognizes the contributions of major benefactors in the clinic’s success.  As visitors stroll through the museum, they learn about Mayo’s rich history through exhibits such as the Family of Benefactors, theatre, 24 Hours at Mayo Clinic, Creating the Future of Medicine and more.
